The Position: Software Engineer
As a Software Engineer at CandleScience, you will help us deliver excellent technology experiences to both our staff and our customers.
Apart from your technical skills, we value communication skills with stakeholders within CandleScience. We see programming as a craft that starts with finding the right featureset to build, and then executing in close collaboration with the rest of the engineering team. Our ideal candidate is an upbeat individual with a determined attitude and a strong work ethic.
These are the technologies we work with: Rails, Postgres, Redis, Heroku, Vue, Nuxt, various third-party APIs, ES6, and Sass. You don’t need to be comfortable with all of them, but absolutely willing to dive into them. We can also imagine you specializing in our ES6-based frontend, requiring you to dive deeply into ES6, Vue, and accessibility.
We 💖 the Web, and strive to make our website an exemplary experience for our customers. Accessibility and standards compliance are things we deeply care about.
You must thrive in a small, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment and be focused on accomplishing the company mission and goals. You will be expected to learn and stay up-to-date with current programming and web technology trends and techniques. If you’re not a lifelong learner, you won’t want this job!
We are dedicated to promoting equality and believe deeply in diversity of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin and any and all other incredible characteristics that make us unique.
- Develop new feature in cooperation with CandleScience stakeholders and the rest of the engineering team
- Work to understand and improve our customer’s experience
- Refactor and improve our codebase
- Provide ideas and initiatives to improve the customer and employee experience
- Some experience writing software, ideally with reference projects or a reference letter if your code is not publicly available
- Excellent communication skills
Please upload your resume and a cover letter letting us know why you’re perfect for the job on Indeed. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
