UPS and the Teamsters Union are currently in negotiations to renew the UPS Freight services contract. The Teamsters are expected to vote on a new contract from November 7-11. Without an approved contract or extension in place, UPS cannot guarantee freight services for any shipment that could be in transit past November 8th. To ensure your freight order does not get stuck in their network in the event of a service stoppage, they began scaling back pickups as follows:
Last day for 5-day transit: Thursday, 11/1
Last day for 4-day transit: Friday, 11/2
Last day for 3-day transit: Monday, 11/5
Last day for 2-day transit: Tuesday, 11/6
Last day for 1-day transit: Wednesday, 11/7
We will ship as many orders via UPS as long as possible. To minimize the effect of this disruption, we will use the following freight carriers as needed:
We know this is a crucial time of year for your business and are doing everything we can to minimize the effects on you and all our freight customers. We will continue to prepare freight shipments for same-day pickup but will not be able to guarantee same-day shipping and delivery dates at this time.
The good news is there is a strong possibility UPS and the Teamsters will reach an agreement allowing normal service to resume by November 12.
We’ll be providing additional updates as we receive them. Visit UPS Freight to see more information.
