For a bright, clean fruit alternative, we recommend Foraged Red Currant for a berry fragrance with a complex green and woody facet.

White Currant fragrance oil is a versatile fragrance with wide appeal, thanks to the alluring balance of tart and sweet. Red currant and zesty lemon peel combine with airy ozone before giving way to a botanical heart of juniper and geranium. Black currant and just a hint of peppermint in the base reinforce the tart freshness of this year-round scent. White Currant is the perfect scent for creating modern, trendsetting home fragrance options like elegant candles and wax melts. Don’t sleep on this fragrance for bath and body either—the blend of tart and sweet is beautiful in artisanal soap, body butters, and lotions.

This fragrance oil is infused with natural essential oils, including lemongrass, fir needle, orange, geranium, and peppermint.

Blends well with: White Birch, Cranberry Prosecco

Alternative branding ideas: Winter Cassis, Wild Gooseberry

Suggested colors: Burgundy, Ivory

Oil Temperature 110ºF (43.3°C)

We did not experience any acceleration but there was some ricing noted after the mixture came to a light trace. With continued stick blending the ricing stopped but the batter still had a grainy texture. We were able to bring the batter to a thick trace and completely smooth it out. The batter poured smoothly and easily into the mold. After 24 hours the soap had a slight pink discoloration around the edges where it had not reached a full gel. The scent was very strong. After 30 days the soap had discolored to a tan shade and the scent was still very strong. Even though we did experience some ricing initially, this would be an ideal fragrance for a design that requires a thick trace since there was no acceleration.

Whyyyyyyyy!

Nooooo!!! Candlescience please do not discontinue this scent! We all love it so much and I just smelled the foraged red currant you suggested to swap with and it’s not even close! Please don’t discontinue it! I don’t even care if it’s super hard to catch in stock or only available in short supply, even pre-order! Anything!

Heartbroken this scent is being discontinued!! Please reconsider this decision!! It was also nearly impossible to obtain before sold out. I received the email and went to order a couple of hours later, and it was already sold out of everything except the 1oz bottles. Foraged red currant is the recommended substitute and it is not the same. Please bring back!

We need this fragrance! Please don’t discontinue!!
Moné 2026-01-14

White currant is perfection!!!This fragrance is a key element in my best selling holiday candle for 3 years in a row!! It cannot be replaced by any of the other currant scents. Please reconsider discontinuing this item. This is the second time one of my best sellers is being abruptly discontinued and it is creating financial hardship for my small business! CS should start surveying their customers before getting rid of things we love and need!

Discontinued?? Why?!

I’ve been a long-time supporter of CandleScience because I genuinely trust the science behind your fragrance oils. That trust matters. As a candle maker and business owner, I rely on the consistency, testing, and reliability you’re known for, and that’s why I’ve built best-selling products around your fragrances with confidence.

That same trust, however, also means trusting that widely loved, high-performing fragrances will remain available—especially those that have proven themselves in the market time and time again. White Currant is one of those fragrances. Discontinuing such a popular scent is incredibly disappointing and, frankly, a very poor decision from a business standpoint.

This change has left many of your customers scrambling to find a suitable replacement—not for ourselves, but for our customers, who expect consistency when they return to our shops. If a comparable alternative can’t be found within CandleScience, it forces makers to look to your competitors just to maintain their best sellers. That’s not a position most of us want to be in.

Ultimately, this decision creates a lose-lose situation: CandleScience risks losing loyal customers, and makers are left disrupting proven product lines that our businesses depend on. I truly hope future decisions take into account the downstream impact on the small businesses that have built their success on your products.

CandleScience has earned a great deal of goodwill over the years. I’d hate to see that eroded by avoidable choices like this.
