If we had to pick one wax for all makers of any experience level, CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax is it. Through extensive research and testing, our lab has developed a user-friendly, single-pour container wax that makes it easier to achieve the strong hot throw and smooth tops found in luxury candles. And, the cure time is just one to two days!

This wax features the ability to create multi-wick candles in containers with diameters as small as 3.25”, which elevates both the aesthetic and fragrance intensity of your candle line while minimizing your costs. Learn more about how to calculate your costs in our article on How to Price Your Candles.

Benefits

  • Luxury apricot wax blend
  • Elevated multi-wick aesthetic
  • Single-pour with smooth tops
  • Excellent hot throw
  • Minimal frosting
  • Good color retention
  • Enhanced UV protection

Our custom blend of apricot, coconut, and soy includes a UV additive that protects candles from yellowing and dyed candles from fading due to light exposure. Our formulation minimizes frosting, allows for bolder use of color, and the inclusion of paraffin is key to this wax’s strong fragrance throw.

Candle Maker's Notes
A unique feature of this wax is that a traditional melt pool, where the wax is fully melted to the edge of the container, isn’t necessary. As long as the wax continues to melt and slide into the wax, the wax will be fully utilized.

See our lab notes for details on how to conduct your burn testing.

1 lb Heat-Safe Bags
Our custom wax is offered in 1 lb heat-safe, BPA-free bags for testing. No metal pouring pitcher is needed.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Too much soot with a single wick? Try double- or triple-wicking with smaller wicks. Containers with diameters larger than 3.25” will likely need more than one wick.
  • Wet spots? Warm your jars before pouring your wax and/or pour your wax at a warmer temperature.
  • Visible striations or layers in your dyed candles? Pour the wax at a slightly warmer temperature.
  • Trying to find the right wick for your CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax candles? Our Wick Guide will help get your testing started.

Best Wax Ever
Chris Crisante 2024-09-30

This wax is spectacular. The hot throw is awesome! The tops came out perfect on the first test candle without having to try a bunch of pour temps. In my opinion 464 has a slight better cold throw, but the difference is not super noticeable. I HIGHLY recommend switching if you're using 464. The extra .74c/lb is well worth it.

Beautiful luxurious wax!
Lori 2024-09-30

This wax is wonderful, very smooth, and has an awesome scent throw.
- I know you can't share the percentages of ingredients in this custom wax, but can you say if coconut and apricot are the majority?
- If I wanted to use this to make wax melts by adding beeswax, what percentage of beeswax would you recommend?

Hey Lori! Thanks so much for your review. We're happy to confirm that CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax® is primarily plant-based.

If you'd like to try testing it in wax melts with beeswax, we recommend starting with a very small percentage of beeswax, such as 5% or so. From there, you can adjust the beeswax ratio up or down based on the results of your test batch's performance. If you'd like for us to look at any wax melt test results alongside you, please reach out to us directly via email at [email protected].

Wick Issue
Misha Batoon 2024-09-27

Okay… i love this wax because it is very smooth and easy to work with. But I am having trouble with wicks. I am using Straight Sided Tumbler Jar (Libbey) and I’m not sure which wick to use.

As amazing as advertised!
Tyler 2024-09-26

I'm curious if Candle Science will be able to disclose what percentage of this wax is: Coconut, Apricot, Soy, and Paraffin.

Hi there! Our Coconut Apricot wax is primarily plant-based but because it's a custom CandleScience wax we're unable to share the exact ratios in the blend. Since it does contain paraffin it wouldn't be considered 100% natural. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to our Support team at [email protected]!

Great wax that I didn’t want to love
Moon 2024-09-12

I’m a 464 user through and through. I’ve been using it for 10 years and I love it. I didn’t want to try this wax initially due to the paraffin. I’ve used a lot of waxes including different soys, coconuts, paraffin blends but never apricot. I know there’s so much misinformation out there about paraffin vs soy but I still was hesitant. I broke down and bought some. I used the microwave for the pour spout bags and thought I ruined it due to overheating. I used 8% FO and thought for sure I wouldn’t get a good candle out of it. I waited only 3 days for the cure and dang if I didn’t get an amazing hot throw. This candle slaps. I even used frasier fir that was about 2 years old. Lol This wax seems like it’s fool proof so far. No sink holes. Gorgeous tops. Easy clean up. I’ll be testing a few more lighter scents and if it goes this smoothly, I might think about offering it as a second wax to my customers. I’m very impressed.
