After trying smaller wicks I found this size is perfect for my 1 pint Mason Jar. The wax burns completely with very little soot at the top. My candle burns right down to about <1/2".

You may see some variation in the wax coating on the wick due to different coating processes. The variance of the wax coating on the wick has no impact on the burn of the candle.
About the CD Series
CD (Stabilo) wick is a flat braided cotton wick with paper threads woven into the cotton. The reinforced construction of the wick is designed to ensure a consistent burn with higher fragrance loads, especially with softer, more viscous natural waxes. The superior rigidity of CD wick allows the wick to stand up straighter for easier pours and keeps the wick upright in a deep melt pool. Note: Any carbon buildup should be removed once the wick is extinguished. CD wicks are lead and zinc free.

Great burn for 444 wax
These pair so perfect with the 464 I just switched to. This size is great for my 9oz jars. I loveee these. No complaints!
I was hoping these wicks would turn out better than the CD 18 wicks as I was afraid those wicks were burning off the fragrance oil and were messing with the scent throw. But these wicks weren't any better. The first time I lit the wick, there was a lot of flickering with the flame. I extinguished the flame and after some time, tried to light it again. After lighting it a second time, the wick started popping so much I was afraid the smoke alarms were going to start going off (I've had this exact problem before with Yankee candles). Overall, not the best wicks I've tried. I think I'll test my luck with the CD 16.
I’m new at making my own candles and recently gave the CD wicks a try. I can smell my banana nut bread (also amazing from CS) soy candle 2 rooms away. I’ve had amazing melt pour and extreme hot throw. I’m a huge fan.
