Petrichor Fragrance Oil
Choose a Variant

A hotly demanded fragrance, Petrichor fragrance oil captures something very unique. This fragrance evokes the atmospheric scent that follows a downpour of rain on dry earth after long, hot days. City dwellers might think of it as concentrated ozone meets asphalt, but heavier on earth than asphalt.

We don’t want to fool you, this scent smells a lot like a freshly dug up garden out of the bottle (OOB). This scent will be loved as both a standalone scent and as a versatile blender. Much like how Fireside pairs with woodsy or fruity scents, Petrichor blends well with florals, garden scents, and musks. This scent reaches peak performance in candles, wax melts, and tarts.

If you’re seeking a floral retelling of rain, this scent is not it; however, we suggest trying Rain Water instead.

This fragrance is infused with essential oils, including patchouli, cypress, galbanum, and vetiver.

Blends well with: Moonflower Nectar, Sea Mist, Tomato Leaf, Oakmoss and Amber, Rain Water, Cucumber Water and Melon

Alternative branding ideas: After the Rain, First Rain, Rain Storm, Earth

Suggested colors: Light Gray, Light Blue

Lives up to its name

I read all of the reviews before I purchased this one. I was game. It sounded much to interesting to pass up. So I got a one ounce bottle, and mixed it with a rain/storm fragrance that I love. I cured for 2 weeks and OMG! It literally smells like the earth after a hard rain, steaming asphalt, wet leaves, amazing. This is one of those rare scents that appeals to people who are true candle and olfactory enthusiasts. This is a winner for me. A big winner.

Love this smell!

I live in Florida and in the very hot summers, when we haven't had rain for several days or weeks and then it rains, THIS IS THAT SMELL! It is not for everyone, but I have a few devotees. It is very powerful at full strength (10%).

Needs to be Mixed

Alone in the bottle it is very earthy and powerful. I like it as is but most people will not. I blended this with a beachy fragrance from CS and named my candle Beachside Thunderstorm. It’s perfect and I love it.

It needs to be blended but the possibilities are endless.

Super impressed!

I blended it with cypress and sage and it smells exactly like spring rain!

Pleasantly surprised, eventually

In the bottle, this smells like mold, mildew and damp moss. Awful. But I blended it 50/50 with Cala Lily, and I have to say it's a favorite now. It smells earthy and calming somehow.

MY SPRING RUNAWAY HIT

I mixed this with fresh cut grass for my spring season's best seller. I literally had people stopping me and begging me to buy as many as I could make. I personally burn this exclusively in my own home. Love it!

I so wanted to like this!

I was so excited about this scent because I’m a big pluviophile ☔️. But this was sadly a no go for me, it smelled mildewy to me. Fresh Rain will have to do.

Exactly as described

Go easy with this fragrance. I did an 8 %
Fragrance with this scent which to be honest is higher than I normally do . Unclear why I went that high as this is strong. But I digress. Anyway it was over powering to the point where 2 candles took over my work room and I had to remove them since the smell was WAY TOO MUCH . Will try again with a much lower percentage. With all of that being said it is a wonderful product as long as your not heavy handed.

Smells JUST like wet dirt

This oil nailed it literally smells exactly like the real thing. My coworker described it perfectly: like a wet rock that is covered in moss, and was just pulled out of the ground.

We're going to pair this with vetiver and honeysuckle for our summer rain candle!!
