Petrichor Fragrance Oil
Choose a Variant

A hotly demanded fragrance, Petrichor fragrance oil captures something very unique. This fragrance evokes the atmospheric scent that follows a downpour of rain on dry earth after long, hot days. City dwellers might think of it as concentrated ozone meets asphalt, but heavier on earth than asphalt.

We don’t want to fool you, this scent smells a lot like a freshly dug up garden out of the bottle (OOB). This scent will be loved as both a standalone scent and as a versatile blender. Much like how Fireside pairs with woodsy or fruity scents, Petrichor blends well with florals, garden scents, and musks. This scent reaches peak performance in candles, wax melts, and tarts.

If you’re seeking a floral retelling of rain, this scent is not it; however, we suggest trying Rain Water instead.

This fragrance is infused with essential oils, including patchouli, cypress, galbanum, and vetiver.

Blends well with: Moonflower Nectar, Sea Mist, Tomato Leaf, Oakmoss and Amber, Rain Water, Cucumber Water and Melon, Tulip Fields

Alternative branding ideas: After the Rain, First Rain, Rain Storm, Earth

Suggested colors: Light Gray, Light Blue

My favorite 😍

I made my favorite candle out of this with moonflower nectar for a 'Craig na Dun' inspired smell! (Outlander)

This *actually* smells like petrichor

It is what it says. Most scents add some fru-fru sweetness or things to tone down the "dirtiness" of earthy scents. This does not do that. This is earthy and dirty. It is a very, very nice smell. I will be getting much more as it blends extremely nicely with "milder" and sweeter scents. I blended with Oakmoss and Amber, and Black Violet and Saffron, both were stunning. It's fairly strong.

If you're on the fence I really highly recommend getting at least a small bottle and blending a small amount. It has rich depth in a way many scents do not.

I am a hobbiest sommalier and perfume smeller, so here are my detailed notes:
- Rotten wood and compost (a bit tangy and pungent like decaying orange peel)
- Wet stone and salty mineral rocks
- Spicy apple or strawberry
- Honeysuckle or bluebell
- Cola root
- Alfalfa

Fresh rain in a bottle

CS has quickly, basically overnight, become my favorite vendor for my self care product fragrances. I have been searching for an authentic rain smell for over 2 years, this is it. Literally a wet mossy rock. It’s so earthy and refreshing, I have too many ideas for what I want to explore with this scent! Thank you candle science <3

FA-BU-LOUS

Don’t get me wrong, you won’t sell a thing made with this fragrance as is. Most people will be disgusted and will ask what the heck. But when you are deep into the perfumery world, you will find this one stunning. It really is like petrichor. Petrichor is the scent of the cement, earth and dirt after the rain. And this one is pin point on it. I’m weird and I’m seeking for non commercial or popular stuff.
