Product Update:

You may see some variation in the wax coating on the wick due to different coating processes. The variance of the wax coating on the wick has no impact on the burn of the candle.

About the LX Series
LX wick is a specially braided flat cotton wick which maintains a slight curl when burning. The curl moves the tip of the wick into the hottest part of the flame, which helps to minimize or eliminate carbon buildup (mushrooming), reduce smoking, and provide a 'self-trimming' effect, which creates a very stable and consistent flame. LX wicks are lead and zinc free.

Black Smoke

Hello,

This wick is not good. I have trimmed the wick before each burn, but for some reason, it continues to throw a lot of black smoke. It’s not under a vent, and I haven’t had this problem before. I noticed that for your stater kit, you use the same wax, same size jar, but wick is CD 18.

Surprising Experience!

I recently bought the ECO-8, LX-18, and CD-8 wicks to see which would be best for my candles. I am going to do 2 trials so this was my first. I used 6 oz yogurt jars from Amazon and 444 Golden Brands soy wax. ALL stayed lit which was my first good sign. I had them lit for 1 hr bc they are a smaller diameter so each candle has reached a full pool for the diameter of the jar, which was also a good sign to make sure they could be used in bigger jars. The LX-18 wick had ALOT of mushrooming I assume it was bc it was made for a bigger jar which it is, so I still need to run trial 2. There was only a little little bit of mushrooming with the CD-8 which is a super close second. With the ECO-8 there was no mushrooming at all and a small tilt to the wick as it burned which is what eco wicks do so over all all wicks passed, the only reason the CD and ECO are better is bc of the tiny to no mushrooming. My next test will be in my 2.8 diameter jar so we will see if the mushrooming is better with the LX and if all the wicks complete a full wax pool! I hope this is helpful

The LX Wick Series, specifically the LX16/18 are our go to wicks for our candles. We use everything from the LX14 all the way thru to the LX28 in our vessels and IGI6006.

The wicks seem to be nice, but they are too small for the recommended jar I am using(Straight Sided Jars)
I use organic soy wax and 10% oil ratio. Waited 3 days before burn testing, trimmed wick to 1/4 inch. Flame was great for first 2 minutes, then it went very low, two hours went by and there was barely a flame, and only a tiny wick pool.

I will maybe try one size up, and hopefully use these for a smaller container in the future so they don't go to waste.
