Bring the spirit of the forest into your living space with Mountain Mist fragrance oil. Originating in Japan, shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is the practice of spending time in nature and it’s been growing in popularity. Why? Because unplugging and connecting to nature helps us de-stress, be present, and it just feels nice!

Unlike our other pine forest scents, Mountain Mist focuses on lush green and marine notes. Airy top notes of ozone, green floral, and marine are tinged with apple and mint. Leafy green leaves and fragrant eucalyptus compose the heart of this scent, which rests on a woodland base of moss, sandalwood, and balsam. Capture the spirit of the forest in candles, melts, and tarts. Or, emulate a forest bath with soaps, scrubs, lotions, and other bath and body products.

This fragrance is infused with essential oils, including cedarwood, orange, elemi, guaiacwood, peppermint, eucalyptus, nutmeg, and birch tar.

Blends well with: Fireside, Gardenia Tuberose, Midnight Blackberry, Coastal Cottage, Leather and Labdanum, Volcanic Sand and Sage

Alternative branding ideas: In the Clouds, Misty Pine, Mountain Air, Forest Bathing

Suggested colors: Green, Light Gray, Light Blue

Lye Water Temperature 115ºF (46.1°C) Oil Temperature 113ºF (45°C)

We experienced moderate acceleration and some slight separation. Once we added the lye water to the oils, we made a few quick pulses with the stick blender and could already see some thickening even though a full emulsion had not yet been achieved. We continued hand stirring to help form a stable emulsion which then quickly formed a thick trace that was the consistency of lumpy mashed potatoes. Despite how thick the batter became, it was not stiff, so we continued to hand stir and confirm there were no loose oils or lye water. We plopped the soap in the mold and tamped it several times on the counter to try and minimize any air pockets that may have formed inside. After 24 hours, we observed the soap had reached a full gel except for the corners and had a texture similar to hot process soap. The bars were also slightly weepy after the cut. The scent was strong, and the soap had discolored yellow. After 30 days, the soap discolored to a dark yellow. The scent remained strong but had a slight shift from the out of bottle character. While the soap did fully saponify and created a usable bar of soap, the finished texture may not have the desired look for your cold process soap. You may find using this fragrance in a hot process soap or other personal care application easier.
