This is one of those fragrances that smells great OOB and in a candle. I loved it when I first opened the bottle and I loved it even more after it was cured in a candle. This is also an excellent mixer fragrance. It's luxurious smelling and can add some great dimension to another FO.

I went out on a whim and bought this in the 16 oz. I love candle science but this was a no for me. This fragrance oil smelled terrible out the bottle.. But you know as a candle maker you can’t always go off of that. I made it in a candle and wax melt and it just wasn’t a good smell. I just ended up throwing the bottle away.
I launched this fragrance on my holiday line after learning Holly Berry has been discontinued. It smells nothing like Holly Berry but it is a beautiful fir scent. Just like Frasier Fir, I've added to my regular line of candles and will sell year around.
I like it, but it smells exactly like Christmas Hearth. Like literally dead on. I dont think my customers will know the difference so im literally just gonna pour it into my christmas hearth bottle and double it. I was expecting something exotic and different, because of the name. But its just a typical smelling holiday scent. Oh well
This is one of my best sellers during the holiday season!! I still label it under Hollyberry. Great scent throw,
I don’t particularly love this smell although it isn’t a bad scent, but my customers disagree! I can’t keep this scent in stock! Candlescience is great, just wish the shipping was cheaper.
We prefer Amber Noir and Egyptian Amber. Candle Science has many other better scents to our opinion. Of course, this is a matter of taste, but we were not wowed by this particular fragrance.
This is a hidden gem for sure. It smells absolutely fantastic, and I have to agree about the layers. I got a tiny bit on my hands when I was pouring and now I can't stop smelling them! One sniff I pick up cinnamon, then on the next I pick up the greenery. If the Nutcracker ballet had a scent it would be this. :)
Love this FO !!!! Smells like plum to me!! Lol
I don't know how anyone could not like this scent! It smells wonderful and it is strong. Great cold and hot throw!
I adore this scent! It’s layered and complex. One of my favorites. It’s very powerful in coconut wax, almost too much but in soy it’s perfection. The different notes really bloom! Im keeping it year round.
LOVE this fragrance! It is deep and rich and slightly sweet, but also very mysterious. It is fairly gender neutral, which is an added bonus. Scent REALLY blossoms in candles and has a very nice HT, cold throw is 'meh'.
Unbelievably beautiful! Your fragrance team really excelled here!!! On trend, sophisticated, well balanced in terms of plum, amber, cypress and a hint of smoke. My customers are in awe of this fragrance! CS is really paying attention to the needs of its audience. I also applaud how fantastic delivery is so quick. What a team!!! 5 stars
I fell in love with this scent oob and am currently testing it in my candles. Everyone so far says it evokes feelings of being cozy surrounded by family and food during the holidays. I can't wait to introduce this to my holiday line!
I never got a chance to smell the "Holly Berry" sent that others have been comparing this to so I'm coming to it with a fresh pair of eyes. I get that this might be miseleading if you're looking for something new, however, under the "Holly Berry" listing it says the "Black Amber and Plum" is it's replacement. I don't see the issue with re-naming this scent, especially if it uses different fragrance notes. If you did like the "Holly Berry" scent this seems like it would be a good replacement!
I got this as a free sample with my order and it smells sooo good! it smells like amber with a hint of plum.... definitely ordering more in the future!
I wasn't expecting to like this one too much because I'm not big on amber fragrances. OOB I get mostly plum and spice/cinnamon and it smells great. I made this into a candle where it was 50/50 with another fragrance to really bring out the sweet/spiciness to it and all I could smell was the amber in the CT! However, after letting the candle cure for a week, the CT really improved and the HT was amazing. It smells luxurious, honestly! This scent is definitely one to let cure for a while before burning. Will definitely introduce this into one of my seasonal collections!
This is my new favorite fragrance, the amber notes are rich with a sweet plum that shines through.
The scent and performance are good. My issue is that it's just a slightly sweeter version of Holly Berry. So just call it what it is. "Holly Berry" - revised. So my rating is 3 stars for the scent itself. It's good. Not fantastic. But good. I would have gone 4 but you guys lost a star for the reach on the name and description.
This fragrance is amazing! Cinnamon is what comes through first but then the woods and berry come through and it all blends together beautifully! Smells awesome in wax. I'll be using this as a year round fragrance but would do very well just as a fall/winter scent as well!
I have to agree, this smells just like Holly Berry. If not exactly it, it is WAY too similar. I'm smelling them side by side right now!! In a soy candle! I love Holly Berry, and it is in my line already, so I don't really need this one.
Some of these reviews are blowing my mind. This scent is not like Hollyberry. Not.even.close. Have these reviewers used the oil or are they judging out of the bottle (which is never the right thing to do, btw)? This is a unique blend of amber and plum, and it smells exactly like it sounds. Strong throw in parasoy. Did not require a wick adjustment in my wax.
For the life of me, I can't understand why anybody would knock this fragrance. I have a rotation of about 40 fragrances I use over the course of the year in my candles. after testing this fragrance it's going straight to the front line. Well done candlescience
As someone else has mentioned this is nearly the same as Holly Berry. I couldn't pin point it at first until I read these reviews and yep that is exactly what it smells like just a little more cinnamon in it! I was definitely hoping for an amber and plum fragrance but this oil does not smell like that AT ALL. Once again a great scent for fall/winter but the name of it is definitely misguiding.
In one word: W O N D E R F U L - This is our new favorite FO. I poured three candles using this FO: one a straight up Black Amber and Plum, a second candle Black Amber and Plum + Harvest Berry & a third blending Black Amber and Plum + Cypress and Bayberry (All FO are from CS). The hot and cold throws on each candle are a 10. Black Amber and Plum is a festive aroma blending fir, spice, cinnamon, and wood that summons the glee and anticipation of the holiday season. I am excited to add Black Amber and Plumb to holiday 2020 line of seasonal home fragrance.
If the FO is too holiday for you, try blending the FO to create your own unique fragrance. I never shy away from blending any CS FO with one another. Overall, every single CS FO blends well with each other and I have had no issues blending. The price point on all CS FO is exactly what I expect to pay for a high quality FO. The creative perfumers at CS are more than just chemists working on formulas; they hard-working artists consistently innovating and improving their products. Their FOs are pure, free of dyes/toxins, and consistent quality each and every time. My customers expect quality from my products and I expect quality from those I source my materials from. CS offers quality products at reasonable prices.
Okay, I don't think CS had the intention to deceive anyone, but I DO think their marketing of this fragrance as "Black Amber and Plum" is a bit overzealous and frankly misguided, and I'm being charitable. It is the SAME EXACT HOLLYBERRY fragrance in terms of smell, just without the phthalate, but also with a bold new price point! It is a cinnamon-y, woodsy, smoky blend with berry notes. It most certainly is NOT plum by any stretch of the imagination. And given that it is being promoted at CS's top price point, I expected it to be a beautiful blend of amber and plum--it is neither amber nor plum. It is a decent fragrance, but it is grossly misrepresented. This would be a good Christmas holiday fragrance, but not at this price. I was disappointed when I got this, and regretted ordering it. There is nothing creative, exciting, different, or new about this fragrance. CS just recycled Hollyberry.
This is a sensual, dark, rich scent. Very sexy. It works well in my wax melts and soap. I really like it.
