I really needed an orange/citrus that did not smell like house cleaner or candy. This is a gorgeous, tart, true citrus. Juicy without being perfumey, musky or sugary. I detect notes of grapefruit too. It has good cold and hot throw. 7% in 464 and I definitely smell it. Great mixer with other FO!

We did not experience acceleration or separation. There was no discoloration, and the scent remained strong after curing for 30 days. The soap did go through a partial gel with no insulation. This fragrance would be ideal for vivid colors and various swirls.
I used this as part of a Christmas soap design (combined with Cardamom & Star Anise, and a hint of Fireside... Yuuum). It's citrusy enough, but it's REALLY predominantly grapefruit. It lacks the sweet brightness of orange and is all sharp with a little bitter undertone. I felt a need to add orange EO to the soap (fortunately it's red). The good news is, it behaved like a CHAMPION. No discoloration or acceleration, and even blended with something as strong as anise, the citrus comes through. :)
I used a clear plastic solo cup to set aside a measure of the fragrance for about 10 minutes. I put a ziploc around the cup to keep the fragrance from overpowering our noses (too much of a good thing).
When I went to pick up the cup, it had EATEN THROUGH THE BOTTOM! I was able to recover most of it in the bag and the candles came out great but wow. Potent stuff. I recommend keeping it in the bottle or only setting it aside in a metal container or something since it obviously has some corrosive properties.
I didn't see a warning on the bottle about anything related to this. Maybe I missed it? Please add a warning to the label!
Hi! We are so sorry to hear about the mishap. We recommend always using a glass container or a wax-lined paper cup to measure your fragrance oils in. Most fragrance oils react poorly with everyday plastics so it is not advised to use any plastic cups or plastic measuring cups with any of your fragrances. Best wishes as you continue crafting and please reach out to our support team if you ever have any questions or concerns.
This is by far one of my favorite scents. I used this in cold process with the minimum amount recommended by the soap calc and the scent stays fresh and clear, its an absolutely beautifully behaved FO and I will use it over and over again.
Got this for my soy wax GB 464 and I love the cold and hot throw. I think the grapefruit notes is what really does it for me. Will be ordering more in the future.
This is one of my favorite scents. I use it in soy candles and it has a fantastic hot and cold throw. I also recently starts making CP soap with it, it soaps really well and retains the scent nicely.
I have smelled the Blood Orange FOs from other large fragrance retailers, and this one completely blows theirs out of the water. Bright, citrusy, strong, and delicious! I am quickly becoming a fan of CandleScience's fragrances!
* A W E S O M E ** This fragrance is very strong out of the bottle. It is very refreshing and bright as a stand-alone FO... BUT...
.....get creative and mix up your fragrances with the following:
Red Ginger Saffron FO [2 parts]
with Blood Orange [1 part]
and the Sparkling Grapefruit [1 part]
I made a few 3 wicks with the IGI 6006 wax and the cold & hot throws are unreal!!!
I could barely smell this fragrance while burning it. I might prefer to mix it with another scent later.
Great fragrance but no hot throw after two weeks curing in 464 blended with 15% Paraffin. I tried a second batch and I did go over the recommended fragrance load and the FO beaded at the surface.
This fragrance was hard to get a hold of! It was completely sold out for several weeks. Having used it in candles, I understand the appeal. It is fruity and sharp, definitely has a spring/summer kind of vibe. The scent profile in candles is true to the description listed on the website. I used the 464 soy wax from candlescience at a 10% fragrance load and had good performance with both hot and cold throw. I added fragrance at 180 and poured at 135. I didn't have any sweating in my candles from the fragrance. I took off one star because the scent irritated my mother's asthma (I made this candle for her as a gift). Looking at others' reviews, I don't think this was a common reaction, and my mom can be especially sensitive, but I wanted to make sure others were aware of it. No one else who used this candle had a negative reaction. Otherwise, would highly recommend.
Tart wih a punch. Love it mixed with some other fragrance oils too.
I ground it with Driftwood so it isn't so sweet--but it's good!
This one everyone loved. The scent is great but not very strong, so 4 stars (i like a strong cold throw)
I just made 8 candles with this FO, and let me tell you. I love it. It smells really good. I mixed red and yellow dye to get this beautiful orange. I can't wait to get this one out. I already ordered another 4 oz bottle of it.
Best fragrance available on Candlescience.com! Cannot stop smelling it. It smells like juicy California orange groves!
All my testers gave a 2 thumbs up! What a wonderful juicy citrus, very uplifting
Great tart scent if you don’t like sweet citrus scents. But you definitely have to wick up or use a hotter burning wick compared to most other fragrance oils. I’ve found that ECO wicks don’t burn hot enough when using this FO with 464 wax and the flame ends up fading out rather quickly when you relight. Even more important to wick up if your wax is an oilier batch. Learned this the hard way!
I use this FO in 464 at full % and have had nothing but rave reviews. It is def a top seller and one that I will continue to use. Bright and citrusy in CT & HT, It is one of my best sellers. 100% Recommend
I love the scent this candle produces.. however, I have had issues with uneven burning and even situations where the wick won't relight. I make 16+ fragrances for my candle shop, and this is the only one I have trouble with. I have reduced the amount of fragrance load, all leads to the exact same problem. Anyone else have troubles with this fragrance oil?
This is a best seller candle for me - 10% in GB 464. It has a great cold and hot throw and my customers love it.
Fresh, crisp, not too sweet. A refreshing summer scent. Made tumbler candles and wax melts- awesome HT. I added a splash of Lemon Verbena to Blood Orange... Orchard Heaven.
I decided to try this scent after hearing people saying they love it and I wanted to give my customers what they ask for and I'm glad I did this scent is absolutely perfect!
Sold out almost instantly. Definitely buying this again.
I don't always write a review but this time I felt that I should because this is one of the best fragrances I have ever purchased. It is a wonderful citrus blend, strong cold and hot throw. I use it within 24 hours of making my wax melts because I wanted to see what it smelled like. I did not think it would be much of anything because of the name . But I was wrong it is awesome! I immediately reordered a pound because I never order more than a sample of something that is new to me.
this is incredible! I fell in love with this scent immediately and that is not easy for me!
Smelled great out of the bottle. Used 10% in 464 soy wax and cured a week. Absolutely no hot throw at all. Very disappointed.
When I made a batch of candles using this scent, my whole house smelled like citrus. And I don't mean that antiseptic kind of household cleaner scent. It smells pleasantly like oranges and isn't overpowering.
Love adding this to brighten up a blend of fragrance oils. It definitely makes an appearance hot or cold. Used this with a with Chocolate Fudge and it did a great job of making the overall scent more multi-dimensional.
love the throw in soy and paraffin candles and melts. 2-3 days cure time, no fuel smell, nice strong throw.
First I saw some reviews saying not a great hot scent throw but bought it because the blood orange candle I purchased at a local store was wonderful. My first test I used almost 10% and hot throw was incredible so next test I backed it off to just over 5% and seems just fine. I am about to pour another and calculating 7% and for me I am guessing they will be perfect! I would like to know what percentage was used with the bad hot throw reviews.
Great scent & throw
It's an amazing city's alimony grapefruity smell and it's awesome, but there wasn't much hot throw. Maybe needs to be cured longer but a great addition to our line mixed with florals. Worth a try alone but definitely A+ for a citrus mixer
I made this in soy wax and the trick is to let the candles cure for as long as possible.
I just wish the hot throw was a bit stronger. Nonetheless I did reorder this fragrance oil.
I added 1.5 oz to a lb, but I cannot smell it when I burn my soy candle.
I was looking for a nice not fake orange/citrus fragrance. While it's nice, I get more of a bitter ending smell. It smells like what a orange rind tastes like. I'm hoping that goes away in the candles.
Love this one. Excellent throw when making my wax melts. Smells just like described.
Let me tell you a juicy little secret, blood orange is the best scent ever...it's too bad you cantaloupe with a fragrance oil! It's simply sub-lime! Keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to use this scent, it is a very apeeling one. It gives our business a new zest for candles, as it is very pulpular with our customers. Normally when writing reviews, we tend to concentrate! on the negatives, but there is just nothing sour about this fragrance.
Orange you glad you bought this scent? We sure are!
This scent is deliciously refreshing! So far I have only made 2 candles from a sample bottle I ordered and have not burned them, but the cold throw is wonderful. I made both Blood Orange and Citron & Mandarin. Citron & Mandarin smelled orange-y still, but it had a slight candy smell to it. Blood Orange was much more refreshing and smelled like fruit without the overly sweet notes.
This scent smells wonderful in the bottle and has a great cold throw but has pretty much no hot throw. I made two different soy container candle batches using this scent, one on its own and one mixed and with both batches the blood orange was not noticeable. It's a shame because I like the scent but it is not good for candle usage.
Love this fragrance, its so uplifting. for a bit of depth I mixed it with another fragrance. Buying a bigger size next.
Sometimes you just want a punch of citrus and this fits the bill! The fresh green is a nice complement. Fantastic!
Most amazing scent I've ever smelled! Everyone that has smelled this can't get enough! Best Seller
Got this as a free sample and now its our top seller soy candle scent. Love it!
Super fragrant,I love this scent. It smells awesome in my candles.
This is a great, clean orange scent that itsn't sweet at all. I used it by itself at 8% in PB pillar soy wax for my tarts and it gives a great cold throw. Looking forward to testing in warm throw in a week or so. I plan on using this to mix with basil or a woody/ amber smell to get a great blend! Love it!!!
It's a great scent and a big seller but the price keeps going up. It feels like you realized you can make more money off it and raised the price on your customers. Being a long time customer of Candlescience prices just keep going up every year.
First of all, I love love love this fragrance. It's such a nice, robust orange-superb!
I haven't used it in candles yet, but I did give it a shot in a cold process beer soap recipe. It did all right, but did cause a little ricing, so plan accordingly. Hopefully, it'll hold up well as the soap cures, because it's divine now!
Absolutely awesome! Super fragrant, I can smell it as soon as I walk into the room!
One of my favorites! I tried this as a free sample and I'm in love with it. It's such a deep orange scent. I never thought I'd be a fan of citrus scents, but they are some of my favorite.
I received my 8oz bottle yesterday loved it so much I signed back on and ordered a 16 ounce!! This smells fantastic! Fabulous!!! Love love love
If you like Lemongrass, which clears smoke well, try this. It is potently orange with a step inside a greenhouse. Love it!
Amazing in both CP soap and GB 444 wax! Super clean, crisp bitter citrus yeilds an excellent and sophisticated spring/summer scent!
i am a newbee and rely on other's reviews and i am so glad i did! this will be a regular for sure!
This scent has a wonderful cold and hot throw, one of my best new sellers! One of the better citrus scents.
Just got it. This is a nice clean citrus fo. I love it!!!
Got this scent to try out and it smells absolutely amazing. I definitely recommend this
WOW!! this scent is awesome, and Ive only smelled it out of the bottle. I got this as my sample and it arrived today. The description is right on. Top notes are intense orance with a sharpness of tangy grapefruit. I can smell blackberry and sage as well. I think my citrus customers are going to be very pleased.
