Red Ginger Saffron is a fresh, true-to-life fragrance with modern sensibilities. A zesty top note of lemon enhances the peppery ginger core. Saffron and amber base notes add warmth to this intriguing earthy scent. Ginger, patchouli, and cedarwood essential oils reinforce the natural ginger aromas. Use this fragrance on its own for trendy candles, wax melts, and tarts, or get creative with mixing Red Ginger Saffron with other scents for alluring custom blends. Handcrafted soaps, foaming bath butters, and scrubs with this ginger infusion make for truly unique products.

We did not experience any acceleration or separation and found it difficult to bring the mixture to an emulsion. Once at a very light trace it was quite easy to work with. After 24 hours, the soap had a light yellow discoloration and we observed that the soap reached a partial gel with no insulation. The scent was very strong and true. After 30 days, the soap bars were a very light tan shade and the scent was still strong and true. Due to the minimal discoloration, this would be an excellent fragrance to do complex designs that require an emulsion or light trace.

One of my favorites!

This is one of my favorite CS scents. The CT and HT are both incredible. It's unlike any candle scent I've smelled before.

good blends

I was not fond of this as a stand-alone fragrance. (And I had bought four pounds on sale before it was re-formulated.) But I discovered a couple of great blends, meriting a score of 4 stars: I blend this 1:1 with Pumpkin Souffle and call it "Pumpkin & Ginger." The sweet pumpkin marries well with the pungent ginger. I have also blended Red Ginger & Saffron 1:1 with a very sweet apple fragrance from another source, and label it "Apple Spice Cake." Another happy marriage.

Had to throw away an entire batch

I wanted to love this scent. It smells heavenly.
I had a cool (85/85 lye mix and oils) batch of cp soap that was going fine until I added the scent. The batch completely hardened in seconds. I had to throw away the soap and the mixing container with it as it wouldn't even come out of the bowl. I thought, maybe this was my mistake. Tried a second batch with a recipe higher in soft oils. Exact same result. I would not recommend anyone use this fragrance in cold process soap.

Love the scent wish it was a bit stronger

I love this scent more than any other CS scent I've purchased, most of them but I just can't seem to get a really strong hot throw from it.

SO GOOD

WOW! This fragrance is probably my favorite from candle science. It's the best smelling Ginger fragrance that I've ever been able to find!! I saw a review that says it doesn't perform well in coconut wax but I use coconut wax and it's THE best performance from ANY fragrance oil I have ever used. Very strong cold and hot throw. I have a candle that I made with this fragrance oil sitting on my night stand next to my bed without the lid and every so often I get strong whiffs of the scent without even having to light it. I think a lot of reviews on here are fueled by frustration lol which I totally get but it might deter people from trying things that might work for them. With everything, you definitely must test test test! But this fragrance preformed beautifully for ME in my coconut wax!

Candlemaker

I absolutely LOVE this fragrance. It is SO unique and SO different in such a good way. The title is unique and great too. I have several customers as well as myself who consider this a favorite and I run a high end candle line. I have never witnessed a single customer dislike it, make a face of disgust or comment negatively on it. It’s just that good. I hope this never goes away because it will never be replaced by any other candle company or fragrance designer. It’s truly one of a kind. I think it goes best in the kitchen or the bathroom. It is extremely well balanced in Ginger, Lemon, Saffron and Amber. Not too strong in one or the other, just perfect. The ginger, lemon and saffron are more earthy than tart and with extraordinary balance with amber and slight patchouli it remains a complex scent for a high end candle line.

No go in CP

I'm absolutely in love with this fragrance; however, it totally seized in CP soap. I know it was the FO, because I almost forgot to add it and everything was super fluid until I added the FO. Big bummer. Had to mush it into the mold and I'm sure it will look like a very rustic HP soap when I cut it. lol I love the fragrance. I guess this one is just for wax.

This scent is to die for

Too soapy

I agree with the other reviewer who said this smelled like bar soap. I used it in a blend and liked how it balanced with the amber base I used. But while it smelled like fresh ginger out of the bottle, I didn’t get the spiciness I wanted in the candle.

Ginger

Just like ginger

Such an amazing yet strange blend! It truly does smell like red ginger. It wasn’t a huge hit but it did have a small following when I carried it. I did not rebuy just because it sold a tad slow. Hot throw was amazing in 464!

Justine

Growing up in a South Asian household, I absolutely love this scent. All of my customers love it the cold throw too. It couldn't be more perfect. The hot throw though is a disappointment, leaves you wishing for more. Once lit, the scent is so mild that it barely reaches the nose. Truly hope CS revises this scent. It has so much potential.

Definitely Unique

I was excited about receiving this bc I love using fresh ginger, and saffron is a rare but wonderful treat. OOB, I was dismayed. I ordered almost 40 different samples to get my year’s line-up ready, and it was one of the only disappointing ones. I simply couldn’t imagine anyone wanting their home to smell like this. But I read the reviews & it quickly became apparent that it’s like the taste of cilantro for people—they either love it or it tastes/smells like soap to them. (And this FO smelled like a weird soap to me.) So I ran with that and made some MP soap rather than the candles I’d planned. And I’m pretty happy with it for that purpose. I’m envious of the ppl who can smell the ginger in it. I simply cannot. Pleasant soap scent though, for the rest of us.

Rapid acceleration in CP soap!

Love the smell of this FO. Tried it in soy/coconut blend candle and had awesome hot throw. Tried is in cold process soap, and it was a NO GO! Had rapid acceleration, even at very light trace to begin with! Barley got it into molds. I was bummed, as I really like the smell of the scent!

Warm + Inviting

This scent is warm and inviting. It is pleasant and definitely satisfies fans of spicy fragrance notes! I would recommend if you want to create a product with a lovely, uplifting scent!

Nice, but soft

This fragrance is not quite what I was hoping for. I wanted something with a bit more intensity. It did work great in cold process soap. For my final soap, I blended it with dragons blood and achieved a soft scent with orange and spice notes, but not overwhelming like most spice scents are. I had several customers that liked it, and I did like that they couldn't put a label on the scent...I got my mystique lol. Called the soap Macbeth, it seemed to fit!

Wash Ur Butt Soaps

NO scent throw

I purchased this fragrance based on it's 4 star rating, and have been terribly unhappy with the fragrance. I use GB 444 soy wax for my candles and test burned this fragrance after 1wk of curing. Very little cold throw and NO hot throw after 2.5hrs of burning. In general, I've been pleased with all of my fragrance selections; however, I would not suggest this for candles with it's weak scent.

Gigi

Chandler Bing

This has an extremely strong CT. I made memorial candles with them so they will be burned in small increments which is probably a good thing as it is VERY strong HT in my soy/para/coconut blend wax. If there is someone who doesn't tend to like scented candles, this may be a scent for them. It is like nothing I've smelled and it def smells like ginger and saffron

Flower Road Candle Co.

It smells like soap

I really enjoy fresh ginger, and out of the bottle this was spicy and gingery and compelling. I made a nice little batch of cold-process, and it behaved wonderfully, no. acceleration, and, given my color palate (ochre and red), no discoloration.
But after 24 hours... I have to say, this smells like soap. It smells like an old-fashioned bar of Dial or something. It's the first time I've ever made soap that... Smells like soap, and I find it pretty off-putting. I hope it mellows out a little in the cure, but so far, not a winner.

One of my favorite scents! I am so happy that this one was revised so that I could add it back to my candle fragrances. Also in the past, even though I loved the scent, it did tended to be a bit "in your face," however now, the revision has made it less overpowering which I really appreciate as well.

Jet

my favorite fragrance of all time

Just put me on a plane, give me a credit card with no spending limit and fly me to Morocco to browse through the spice market. This is it the classiest, most amazing scent I have ever smelled from Candle Science. i will weep buckets of tears if they ever discontinue this (after buying 25 lbs of it of course!). Customers love this. note. If you make sachets, this is my top selling scent in sachets!

Poor Scent Throw in Candles

I thought this would be very spicy and strong in my candles, but it has turned out to be very mild. Maybe it will cure stronger in another week or two...Not a favorite for me.

Surprisingly good!!

This scent was a requested scent, never thought of ever purchasing. Once received and made it in soy wax, it is now one of my best sellers. Smells amazing, especially for those who loves fresh ginger.
