Golden Brands 454 Coconut Soy Wax brings together the best of two popular plant-based waxes to create a superb single-pour choice for container candles and tealights.

Coconut wax is increasingly in demand due to its excellent glass adhesion, frost resistance, smooth tops, and strong hot throw. This blended coconut wax produces a creamy, off-white candle with a hot throw a bit stronger than soy wax alone.

While the ratio of coconut to soy is proprietary, we can share that soy is the dominant wax.

This wax comes in flake form for easy measuring and requires no additives. Just like other Golden Brands waxes, the wax is made with USA-grown soybeans and is manufactured in the USA.

Candle Maker's Notes: Wicking is the biggest challenge we've experienced with 454. We strongly suggest reviewing the Lab Notes for a detailed breakdown of where to start with wicking your container. Our Wick Guide will also help point you in the right direction!

Sinkholes, craters, and other similar concerns are often fixed by adjusting the pour temperature. We recommend starting with a pouring temperature of 170°F (76.7°C), but you may need to adjust based on your individual maker space. We recommend adjusting by +/-5°F (2.8°C) at a time to find the right pouring temperature for your space and candles.

Trying to find the right wick for your GB 454 candles? Our Wick Guide will help get your testing started.

Love this wax
Brenna 2025-09-15

This wax is my favorite wax, I tried tons over the course of 2 years when I started and I found this one mixed with a bit of beeswax works perfect for me. I use essential oils and some natural fragrance only and I great CT & HT and the burn is soot free all the way to the bottom, provided it's not burned over 4 or 5 hours.

Best Wax I’ve Ever Used
Hannah 2025-06-19

I’ve been in business for a long time, and originally I was using 444. However as time went on and I learned more about different waxes, I jumped on the coconut soy train. So many different companies have pitched me on their own waxes with paraffin additives. But I just won’t do it. 454 has become my tried and true. I love how it’s completely natural with just coconut and soy wax. It’s something I trust.

In love with 454!

I started my business, Rum River Candle Company, using 464 but didn't love the frosting. I switched to 454 2-3 years ago to solve for the frosting issue but this wax is sheer perfection in every way! The HT/CT is beautiful every time. I am making a batch of 150 8 oz jars right now and the smooth tops are killing me! Absolute perfection! No heat guns, no sink holes, just perfection. I can't imagine ever leaving this wax. If you haven't tried it yet, I think you should!

Best Wax

I absolutely LOVE this wax! It is a tad tricky to wick at times but beautiful and a good HT/CT.

getting strange sinkholes!
Debbie G 2024-11-20

I have been using this wax for a while and really like it, but recently I have had some issues with a circle of holes around the wick. I have tried pouring at various temperatures as well as using various percentages of fragrance oil and even no fragrance oil, but this doesn't seem to make any difference. Heating the tops with a heat gun doesn't seem to help much either. Any suggestions are much appreciated!
