Golden Honey Liquid Dye for candle wax produces a color ranging from a golden honey to a burnished amber depending on usage. This dye is more thick and viscous than many of our other liquid dyes due to its strength. Your actual experience may vary depending on what type of wax you use and the amount of dye used. We encourage you to experiment.

In soy, deep, rich colors are challenging and standard dye amounts create a washed-out, pastel color. They require 2-3 times the dye that paraffin requires, sometimes more.

  • A 1 oz bottle can color up to 100 lb of soy wax or 200 lb paraffin to a medium shade.
  • A 4 oz bottle can color up to 400 lbs of soy wax or 800 lbs to a medium shade.

Fragrance Oil Recommendations: Gingerbread, Cinnamon and Vanilla, Cinnamon Chai, Cinnamon Stick

Note: Due to the extreme concentration of our liquid dyes there is a noticeable odor that will not be detectable at normal usages in finished candles.

Thick

Even though it is thicker than others I have found out that if you add the dye while the wax is still in the double boiler it helps make this dye thin out and easier to work with. This is a dye I use a lot and it never lets me down.

Thick, Sludgy, Inconsistent

Color is great and all the other dyes I bought are awesome, but this one, like other reviewers mentioned, is impossible to control and can easily ruin batches of candles.

Too thick

I've bought just about every color of dye candle science makes and they are awesome. This color was just too thick and sludgy. It's impossible to get a consistent color in different batches. Maybe I just got an old bottle because none of my other colors are like this.

Hard to work with

This is maybe the 6th or 7th liquid dye from candlescience that I have bough, and they all have been great, and the first time I used this color it was great too, no problems at all. The second time I used it however, was a nightmare. The color wound up coming out fine, but the liquid was no very thick and sludgy and the eyedropper wasn't working at all. And it became a real guessing game and had to stir way WAY more than usual to get it dissolve correctly. This is the only dye I have had this issue with.

Hard to work with but great color

Just like previous comments stated, this dye is difficult to work with. It is thick and sticky so it is difficult to get an exact drop. But, I've worked with it two or three times now and the color is lovely! Once you get use to it, you can get an exact drop, but it is hard at first. Four drops for me get a beautiful caramel color. I think it is worth the difficult use.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

I used this on 464 soy wax and Cinnamon and vanilla scent, I got and amazing creamy golden color. Will definitely buy again.

Excellent

For 15oz of 444 Soy Wax, four drops gave me just the color I wanted. Very easy to use and much better, for me, than blocks.

Decent

This was my first time using a liquid colorant for my candles. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting but I wasn't disappointed. The consistency of the product is strange and made it hard to do exact drops. I followed the directions and got a really nice caramel color. I am worried about being able to be consistent with the coloring of my candles since it's hard to measure the drops. But overall, I am not disappointed. I will most likely be buying again.

Owner

This dye is tricky to use because it is difficult to control. It is very viscous and does not stay in the dropper, so it just leaks out. Every time I use it is a guessing game, so the colors are never consistent.

Gooey Gloppy Mess

Very disappointed with this product. Where to start. #1 - Dropper attached to the bottle with a piece of packing tape. #2 - When you go to remove the tape, the label is damaged, rendering the color unreadable and necessitating a new hand written label. #3 - So much residue of the packing tape on the dropper that it has to be degummed and cleaned before it's usable. #4 - Once the dropper put into the bottle and withdrawn to color wax, despite being shaken, when I pulled the dropper out, a big glob of came out of the dropper. I threw the whole bottle out. #5 - I bought a few colors from another supplier and did not have any issues. I will likely not purchase any more colors from CS.
