If we had to pick one wax for all makers of any experience level, CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax is it. Through extensive research and testing, our lab has developed a user-friendly, single-pour container wax that makes it easier to achieve the strong hot throw and smooth tops found in luxury candles. And, the cure time is just one to two days!

This wax features the ability to create multi-wick candles in containers with diameters as small as 3.25”, which elevates both the aesthetic and fragrance intensity of your candle line while minimizing your costs. Learn more about how to calculate your costs in our article on How to Price Your Candles.

Benefits

  • Luxury apricot wax blend
  • Elevated multi-wick aesthetic
  • Single-pour with smooth tops
  • Excellent hot throw
  • Minimal frosting
  • Good color retention
  • Enhanced UV protection

Our custom blend of apricot, coconut, and soy includes a UV additive that protects candles from yellowing and dyed candles from fading due to light exposure. Our formulation minimizes frosting, allows for bolder use of color, and the inclusion of paraffin is key to this wax’s strong fragrance throw.

Candle Maker's Notes
A unique feature of this wax is that a traditional melt pool, where the wax is fully melted to the edge of the container, isn’t necessary. As long as the wax continues to melt and slide into the wax, the wax will be fully utilized.

See our lab notes for details on how to conduct your burn testing.

1 lb Heat-Safe Bags
Our custom wax is offered in 1 lb heat-safe, BPA-free bags for testing. No metal pouring pitcher is needed.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Too much soot with a single wick? Try double- or triple-wicking with smaller wicks. Containers with diameters larger than 3.25” will likely need more than one wick.
  • Wet spots? Warm your jars before pouring your wax and/or pour your wax at a warmer temperature.
  • Visible striations or layers in your dyed candles? Pour the wax at a slightly warmer temperature.
  • Trying to find the right wick for your CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax candles? Our Wick Guide will help get your testing started.

So easy to work with
Sunnyd 2025-01-18

I'm new to making candles, but candlescience has made it so easy with the wax blend.

I love how quickly I can get this candle wax prepared and not worry about the sink holes that were appearing when I tried other waxes.

My only question for the company is how do you suggest I make a firmer candle using the is s wax? I've been tossing in about 5-10% beeswax but really want to know your suggestion.

Compliments from receiver
Synchronicity 21 2025-01-15

I made a rush preparation of wax melts to be given as gifts for volunteers at a Christmas toy drive. I made them on a Wednesday and shipped right away so it didn't get to cure for a week. I paired the wax with a discontinued fragrance from Flaming Candle but received compliments. I also made another batch that same day using Apple Orchard from WSP. I have been burning one clamshell to test and the fragrance has a mild throw and I used 10% FO. I didn't get to use the CS FO samples I purchased yet because I lost my grandma 5 days before Christmas and my maker spirit has been on pause. I can't wait to try the 1 oz scents that I got from you guys although I know I will only be able to create 4 2.5 oz clamshells with each fragrance. I still have more testing to do. I am curious to know if CS intends on making an alternative excluding the paraffin.

Impressed with the wax

I’ve tried this wax with a few candles so far and it has worked out great! I did have a question about the blend of it though. It says that it is a blend of apricot, coconut, soy, and paraffin. Do all of these waxes come from a cruelty-free source?

Best Wax Ever

I've been a 464 soy snob for awhile but have often struggled with the hot throw and getting it all just right. I took a chance on the coconut apricot wax and I can say, I will never look back. This wax is easy to work with (slabs you can just cut easily), has amazing hot throw and always smooth tops. Adheres well on top of it. Please never get rid of this wax. It's really lovely. If you're thinking of switching from 464, give this one a shot with LX or CD wicks.

Very Impressed!

We had a major candle catastrophe recently. We tried a wax from an old supplier who wasn’t exactly upfront about what they sold us. We made 48 test candles—yes, 48—and not a single one passed a two-hour burn test. The cold throw was amazing, but the hot throw? Nonexistent. We were crushed. We reached out to the supplier, hoping they’d help us figure it out, but they couldn’t even tell us what they’d sent us. After trying every wick and fragrance load combination under the sun, we hit a dead end.

That’s when we decided to give this Custom Coconut Apricot wax a shot—and WOW, am I glad we did! We started small with 12 test candles, and only one didn’t pass (which we think was more about the fragrance load than the wax). This wax is absolutely incredible! It’s officially our go-to for container candles from now on. And can we just talk about the customer service at CandleScience? Top. Notch.

Here’s what’s working for us: Medium Straight-Sided Jars (Twist Top), 6 oz of wax with 10% fragrance oil, and LX 16 wicks. We heat the wax to 190°F, add the fragrance at 185°F, and stir for two minutes before letting it cool to 170°F to pour. At first, we noticed some separation in our chilly kitchen—even when preheating the jars—but pouring at 180°F made all the difference. No separation, perfect glass adhesion, and beautiful candles!

We did notice a little tunneling, but we’re confident it’ll even out as the candles burn, as mentioned in the notes about this wax. We were nervous about the cold throw at first—after three days, it wasn’t very noticeable. Normally, we cure our candles with the lids off, but this time we tried leaving the lids on. Game-changer! The cold throw is now fantastic, and the hot throw? Room-filling magic.

Thank you, CandleScience, for saving our sanity and getting us back in business. Your wax is a total dream, and we’re obsessed!
