If we had to pick one wax for all makers of any experience level, CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax is it. Through extensive research and testing, our lab has developed a user-friendly, single-pour container wax that makes it easier to achieve the strong hot throw and smooth tops found in luxury candles. And, the cure time is just one to two days!

This wax features the ability to create multi-wick candles in containers with diameters as small as 3.25”, which elevates both the aesthetic and fragrance intensity of your candle line while minimizing your costs. Learn more about how to calculate your costs in our article on How to Price Your Candles.

Benefits

  • Luxury apricot wax blend
  • Elevated multi-wick aesthetic
  • Single-pour with smooth tops
  • Excellent hot throw
  • Minimal frosting
  • Good color retention
  • Enhanced UV protection

Our custom blend of apricot, coconut, and soy includes a UV additive that protects candles from yellowing and dyed candles from fading due to light exposure. Our formulation minimizes frosting, allows for bolder use of color, and the inclusion of paraffin is key to this wax’s strong fragrance throw.

Candle Maker's Notes
A unique feature of this wax is that a traditional melt pool, where the wax is fully melted to the edge of the container, isn’t necessary. As long as the wax continues to melt and slide into the wax, the wax will be fully utilized.

See our lab notes for details on how to conduct your burn testing.

1 lb Heat-Safe Bags
Our proprietary wax is offered in 1 lb heat-safe, BPA-free bags for testing. No metal pouring pitcher is needed.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Too much soot with a single wick? Try double- or triple-wicking with smaller wicks. Containers with diameters larger than 3.25” will likely need more than one wick.
  • Wet spots? Warm your jars before pouring your wax and/or pour your wax at a warmer temperature.
  • Visible striations or layers in your dyed candles? Pour the wax at a slightly warmer temperature.
  • Trying to find the right wick for your CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax candles? Our Wick Guide will help get your testing started.

Amazing! Especially for first timers!
SJ 2024-07-19

I'm a first-time candle maker and used this wax to pour into metal tins. I've made 8 candle scents in the past week and have slowly started hot throw testing them after a 3-day cure time. Incredible hot and cold throw! This wax has a beautiful luxury pour - and makes it look like I have been doing this forever.

Here's what worked for me: Heat wax in a double boiler, slowly bringing the temp up to 190F. Once I reached my temp, I turned off the heat, set a timer to 2 minutes, and poured the fragrance oil in. I stirred using a bamboo stick and found that by the time the 2 minutes were up, I was in the 170-173F range to pour. I poured, left uncovered for 24 hours, and then put the lids on after 24 hrs. I experimented with temps between 185-200 for heating and did not go below 170 to pour. Burns clean, no soot, no piling, no tunneling. Also, For anyone struggling with measurements, I used the AI co-pilot feature on Bing and fed it my tin measurements (how much wax per tin) and the percentage of FO I wanted and it gave me the perfect mathematical ratio each time.

Great product! Def try it, especially if it's your first time! I'm excited to experiment with fragrance blending now. :)

Enjoying this wax!
Mutdiggy 2024-07-19

So far, this wax has been a pleasure to work with. I heat to 190, add fragrance at 185 then pour at 170. Smooth tops and great jar adhesion. Great CT/HT in 3 days. I still waited 2 weeks to test. Old habits die hard. LX and cdn have worked best and HTP did well also. But so far the cdn wicks have the best hot throw for me with LX a super close 2nd.

A little messy
Celeste 2024-07-17

So the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of how messy it is. I wish it didn't come in a huge slab but otherwise it's a very good wax and it smells amazing. I'll be ordering more now that I know what to expect from the wax.

Simply amazing!

I really really love this wax. I was an avid soy user and I definitely mastered that wax but I just wanted to change things up a bit. This wax has a BEAUTIFUL CT/HT with MOST fragrances (I’ve tried several) at 6-8%=. I’ve definitely noticed sea salt and orchid and Black Sea (my best sellers)DO NOT develop a nice CT for several days! so don’t expect it. I also never see them use the fragrances in their lab notes when testing because they are a little tricky to work with. The HT however is outstanding! I’ve tried CDN, LX,& HPSP and all work very well. However all my double wick jars are drowning in the bottom 1/4 of the jar. I’m using 16oz straight sides jar. Any input would be great.
