If we had to pick one wax for all makers of any experience level, CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax is it. Through extensive research and testing, our lab has developed a user-friendly, single-pour container wax that makes it easier to achieve the strong hot throw and smooth tops found in luxury candles. And, the cure time is just one to two days!

This wax features the ability to create multi-wick candles in containers with diameters as small as 3.25”, which elevates both the aesthetic and fragrance intensity of your candle line while minimizing your costs. Learn more about how to calculate your costs in our article on How to Price Your Candles.

Benefits

  • Luxury apricot wax blend
  • Elevated multi-wick aesthetic
  • Single-pour with smooth tops
  • Excellent hot throw
  • Minimal frosting
  • Good color retention
  • Enhanced UV protection

Our custom blend of apricot, coconut, and soy includes a UV additive that protects candles from yellowing and dyed candles from fading due to light exposure. Our formulation minimizes frosting, allows for bolder use of color, and the inclusion of paraffin is key to this wax’s strong fragrance throw.

Candle Maker's Notes
A unique feature of this wax is that a traditional melt pool, where the wax is fully melted to the edge of the container, isn’t necessary. As long as the wax continues to melt and slide into the wax, the wax will be fully utilized.

See our lab notes for details on how to conduct your burn testing.

1 lb Heat-Safe Bags
Our custom wax is offered in 1 lb heat-safe, BPA-free bags for testing. No metal pouring pitcher is needed.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Too much soot with a single wick? Try double- or triple-wicking with smaller wicks. Containers with diameters larger than 3.25” will likely need more than one wick.
  • Wet spots? Warm your jars before pouring your wax and/or pour your wax at a warmer temperature.
  • Visible striations or layers in your dyed candles? Pour the wax at a slightly warmer temperature.
  • Trying to find the right wick for your CandleScience Coconut Apricot Wax candles? Our Wick Guide will help get your testing started.

Uneven Burn - Any Suggestions?
Anthony Laredo 2025-06-09

Im currently using CD10 with a concrete jar I made with a mold from Boowan Nicole. The sides aren’t melting into the center pool of melted wax and I don’t think there’s room for a second wick. Is the new AL series wick a better fit for this? Overall though I do like the wax a lot, I did find that a little more than the standard fragrance load % is needed. I’m sitting at about 12-15% depending on the fragrance.

Great Wax
Carson 2025-05-21

I’ve been using this wax for a minute now and love how smooth the tops look and how easy the wax is to use. But, I could use some help getting better scent throws. The HT and CT aren’t the best unfortunately. I’ve been using 8% in 7oz candles but I’m not getting much from it. I want to increase the fragrance load but I’m not sure what exactly to raise it to and don’t want to waste any oil.

Great Hot Throw
Bobo 2025-05-11

I love this wax. Im a beginner and this wax has been an awesome addition. Starting with 4 oz candles and 8% fragrance load. Testing with the LX16 and AL140 wicks. Both are actually doing well so far with scent after curing 24 hours. Will update after I test more fragrances. I agree, the cold throw for some oils is not good, but that's just a characteristic of the wax. As long as the hot throw is good, that's a good trade off.

Great Hot Throw!
Michelle 2025-05-08

I love this wax for the most part. It has an excellent hot throw and it pours smooth tops on the first pour every time!

One issue I have encountered is sweating. I do outdoor markets and if the ambient temperature goes about 80F I notice that they start to sweat. It even happens if my house gets a bit too hot. I only use 6.5% fragrance load and I have noticed it across all of my scents. Is there a way keep this from happening or is it an inherent issue with the soft wax?

Mice love it too :(
Justin M 2025-05-04

So this is probably the best wax I’ve used but I made a pretty gnarly discovery this morning - mice had made a pretty huge mess of the remains of a case. They were clearly eating it. So just an FYI, keep this stuff sealed up. Just the plastic bag it comes in isn’t enough.
