I can only echo the other reviews here in that I am so frustrated with how many fragrance oils have been discontinued lately and replaced by scents that, IMO, don't come close to comparing. This scent is one of my TOP SELLERS-- I wish there was a better process for notifying your repeat customers of fragrance oil discontinuations rather than having to find out when I'm going to order more!!! Please please consider bringing this scent back!!!

This fragrance is used in one of my bestsellers so I'm quite disappointed to see it's being replaced ... but this has been happening a lot recently with CS fo's so I'm not even surprised. It's prompted me to incorporate more fragrances from other suppliers so I don't have to worry about creating a scent and then having yet another discontinuation in the future. I hope CS will start to slow down on their discontinuation/replacements and start to expand their catalog with new scents instead, as I think it's lacking in comparison with other suppliers anyway. Rating 5 stars for the fragrance because it was wonderful, a beautiful blender with tea and floral notes that I will miss.
Extremely disappointed by this move!
Candle Science needs to take into consideration the businesses they are hurting when making changes like this (all for making products safe but to replace it with Jasmine??) It's honestly unacceptable. If you can't be a reliable wholesaler then we can't continue purchasing from you.
This was one of my best sellers. Why did y’all do this to me?!
Hi! We apologize for any inconvenience this fragrance revision has caused! Our Black Currant Tea is in the process of being revised to meet our stringent safety standards to remove ingredients that would be included on the Prop 65 List. The new revised fragrance, Black Currant and Jasmine, will be available by early July and we hope you will enjoy this scent just as much if not more!
I bought this to make a candle for my sister because she is obsessed with Harney and Sons tea, especially the Paris Black tea. This one definitely hit the mark and smelled exactly like it. I am a little sad I won't be able to get more of this scent because it was such a lovely, soft scent but I'm looking forward to smell the updated version.
I cannot believe this scent is being discontinued and replaced with jasmine. This was probably the best blend you guys ever created. It was the perfect mix of floral without it being "flower-y". Really disappointed in this decision and hope that you guys will rethink getting rid of this scent. I know you guys are always looking to make your scents better and add to your wide collection, but I truly believe this was a poor move. I'm only giving this review 5 stars because the way this fragrance was before was top notch. Please bring this scent back. A lot of customers are going to be so disappointed...
I cannot believe this is being discontinued. And by something with Jasmine?! The scent I loathe. Black currant tea was SO good and one of my top sellers! I’m giving this 5 stars because I loved it and I’m sad to see it go but I’m starting to lose my faith in Candlescience as a whole. It seems you’re randomly discontinuing so many scents anymore and replacing them with versions that aren’t even close. It’s too bad.
i'm sad to see this one to be discontinued. this was the only fragrance that stood on its own without any other blends and it does so well! i ran here after getting the revamp notification to purchase more and it was all gone. i sure hope the revision is comparable.
I haven’t tested this scent out yet so I have no idea how strong it’ll be in candles and soaps and my rating is neutral! BUT, I do love how sweet, refreshing and light it is. It’s not an overwhelming FO! I bought a sample and as long as my candle testing goes well, I will be purchasing larger quantities on a regular!
I was totally surprised by this scent. I wanted to make a "southern" candle and what better than something with hints of black tea in it. I thought of southern sweet tea. This has been a hit since we released it and it has become second to black sea.
I chose this as a free sample, and was so sad I didn't have more. As soon as I opened the bottle, I was rushed with this amazing scent. Sweet and Savory.
Black Current Tea is a stellar scent. It's a great balance of savory with just a touch of sweet. The bergamot makes this smell exactly like a cup of earl grey tea which is how I describe it to others -- it's less current or berry than the description sounds. This has an excellent and well-balanced throw both hot and cold. Perfect for living rooms and entertaining. This sent was among a huge batch I made as wedding favors. The batch was at 7% fragrance oil in soy 464, scent added at 180 and poured at 135. Barely any frosting or sinking. It was an absolute hit -- I got messages from guests for months after saying this scent, in particular, was perfect. This is my go-to candle scent year-round.
Bought this during the 1oz sale, and I love, love, love this scent, but it's so faint, it didn't come through well in my cold process soap. I used the remainder to make a personal solid perfume, though, and THAT is amazing. I get a lot of compliments!
The Black Current Tea we was sent smelled exactly like burnt coffee. Nothing sweet just a bitter smell. We are confused by the description and from what other commenters are writing.
This one is absolutely amazing! I ordered an 8 oz bottle on a whim solely based on reviews. It has a nice underlying smoky note. I made a few small samples and randomly gave one to my customers. A few of them called for a large candle and more melts. It’s a sticky sweet dark currant. I do get amber and the lightest touch of Amber. It’s a strong one.
I ordered a 1oz sample of this during the last sample sale, and of 20 or 30 samples that I ordered, this was easily my favorite. It has sweet notes, but it's also rich and inviting. So delicious smelling. I finally got around to using it in a sugar scrub, and I absolutely love it. I haven't used it in CP soap or candles yet, so this may not be super helpful to most people on here, but I will be ordering a 16oz bottle and trying this in absolutely everything. I'm happy I made a scrub with it, because the scent stays on my skin for a while after I use it and it smells so good.
This is the best tea scent that I have tried so far. I just adore it!
I love this fragrance! I didn't know what to expect when I first bought it many years ago, but it was instantly one of my favorites. I find it a little polarizing - but the people who love it *really* love it, and always come back for more!
not strong at all
My #1 seller! I've never loved a scent a more.
I got this scent as a free 1 oz. sample and was not sure with the scent from the bottle. I mixed with with a tsp of Vanilla and this is has been my new best seller. It has a sweet and musky scent and I will certainly be buying more of this scent.
I make a lot of soap. My husband tries out every scent. He says this is his favorite out of all of the soaps that I've made. I don't know how it works in soy wax melts, but I know it is awesome in soap. This fragrance does turn dark brown in soap if you don't use a vanilla color stabilizer. This is just a cosmetic issue. This is a fantastic scent that I will definitely buy it again.
This is more floral & fruity, I didn't smell the tea. The cold throw is nice but not great. When lit, I hardly smell anything at all. I get a slight whiff if I walk past it quickly, but other than that, nothing.
I like strong scents and this one is just too light for me -- might be nice for someone who wants a soft scent, though.
For reference -- I used 2% in GB464.
I was hoping for something a little more herbal in scent - this is more fruity than herbal. I can tell that some people are going to LOVE this scent - people who like fruity scents. As far as hot and cold throw, I can't complain - it is nice and strong - I just don't *love* the scent.
Love the smell but the hot throw is just too delicate ... Can't really smell much when it's lit
Love this fresh, clean scent.
LOVE it- it's such a relaxing scent! Not too floral, not too fruity, just a perfectly smooth balance. Nothing artificial. I've only used it in soap so far, can't wait to try it in wax.
I received this as a free sample. Love it. I can smell the Black Currant. Not much of the tea but no matter. It is a great scent. My customers will love it. I will order this again.
I was expecting it to smell like a strong black tea scent. I don't smell any tea but it does have a nice oriental type scent, a hint of tea. It's a very nice scent. Not too strong, just right for my customers that don't like super strong scents. Will be adding this scent to my fragrance list thanks!
This has a fresh and fruity combination going on, which I really love! The scent is fruity without being very sweet or cloying. I don't smell a tea scent at all in this scent though. I have both the white tea and white tea and berries FO from CS and they smell nothing alike. But I can smell the tea scent in those. Either way I still really enjoy this pleasant lite and fruity scent. The hot throw is pretty strong in GB464 and the cold throw is just delicious! Keeper for me!
Personally, I don't get the tea smell, I get more of a fresh smell and so I think it throws me off. But other than that, it's alright. Some of my customers like it.
This is a very nice scent, but could use a little more tea fragrance.
I thought this fragrance had enough of a fruity smell without being "sweet", it is very popular with my family and has a refreshing tea overtone. One of my favorites, spa-like in my opinion. Excellent for massage.
All I smell is white tea, but others fell for this scent immediaely. I sold all the candles I made, and have orders for more.
I expected some black currant scent in what was described as a scent with floral overtones. Instead, it smells like a light tea with a light floral scent. Nothing fruity, no black currant scent.
