LX 24 6" Pretabbed Wick
Choose a Variant

Product Update:

You may see some variation in the wax coating on the wick due to different coating processes. The variance of the wax coating on the wick has no impact on the burn of the candle.

About the LX Series
LX wick is a specially braided flat wick which maintains a slight curl when burning. The curl moves the tip of the wick into the hottest part of the flame, which helps to minimize or eliminate carbon buildup (mushrooming), reduce smoking, and provide a 'self-trimming' effect, which creates a very stable and consistent flame. LX wicks are lead and zinc free.

Hi guys. I purchased these wicks and using them in the Libby tumbler jars. I use the wick guide that you provide for the wax and jar. These wicks don’t really perform that well with Eco Soya pillar wax. I initially started with a single wick in the middle of the jar. That caused extreme tunneling. And the flame on the wick seemed to be very small. Then decided to add a second wick. That helped out with the melt pool. But still didn’t melt completely. It appears that the wicks are only capable of melting a 1 inch circumference around themselves. So I then had to add a third wick to the jar, And finally I achieved a full melt pool. The only drawback is this cause the candle to burn really quickly. I was only able to get 20 hours of burn time for the total candle. Additionally, there’s this black film that circles around the wicks. It’s like soot on the candle wax instead of soot on the jars. It interferes with the fragrance of the candle. I can smell the fragrance, but it smells like burning wax. If that makes sense lol because ironically, that’s exactly what it is. But the point is the candle smells like burning wax instead of some thing, enjoyable, and pleasant. The intended fragrance is noticeable, but faint. I was thinking about wicking up to a stronger wick, and starting back over with a single wick in the middle. I would really appreciate if you guys could help me determine what I’m doing wrong here. Not to worry though, I’m happy candle science customer, and enjoy doing business with you guys. But this is a problem.

Reliable

If used with the right wax and correct diameter, this is a reliable wick.

#1

I use LX wicks for the past 5 years. During changes in the wax market, I tested the LX wicks with a few different types of waxes. I never had any problems with the wick performance, all I had to figure out was just the right wick size for different waxes. I use on type and size of a container so it was not hard at all and I was able to correct the size after one test. I use LX wick with Coconut Wax 83 / I would love to be able to purchase this type of fax from CS!/ . I like the LX wicks performance a lot. For 3.5 D jar I use size #24. I also like the white look of the LX wicks, more elegant then brown colored CD wicks.

LX 24 6" Pretabbed Wick Not so great

I recently purchased the LX 24 6" Pretabbed Wick for a project, and they are terrible. I used 10 wicks and they all mushroomed with very dark smoke. That was a waste of money and a disaster. The last time I used the ECO Series, they were great.

Love these!

I’m sorry to see others have had issues, but these are performing wonderfully with my soy/paraffin blended wax! The wick curls, just as described, and I have minimal smoking. I’ll be using them, often.

wicks

I bought the wicks LX 24 6" Pretabbed Wickand the truth is, I am completely disappointed because they release a lot of smoke and do not allow the fragrance of the candle to be smelled. It is the wick that you advise for IGI 4627, it is impossible to use, and it leaves a lot of smoke. I am not satisfied with this product.

Lots of carbon build up

I have always used CD wicks, but thought I would try these because they were recommended here on the site. I am not a fan of these wicks at all. There was all kinds of carbon build up. If I didn’t extinguish the candle constantly and get rid of it, it fell into the wax pool. Money wasted!

Mushrooming

Caused mushrooming when used with the Libbey straight sided tumbler jar (from CS), 9 oz wax and 10% FO. Will wick down and see if it works better.

Won’t buy again

I bought these because the reviews were so good. I haven’t had the same luck with them as the other reviewers. These wicks put off so much smoke when lit and then after I blow them out. I have cut the wicks before each use and trimmed before lighting it. I have set my smoke alarm off, not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES I HAVE SET THE FIRE ALARM OFF. Needless to say I won’t be buying them again as I cannot well these to customers.
