Olfactive Description: Spicy, Cinnamic, Sweet, Woody

There are a few types of cinnamon essential oils, but this one is derived from the leaves of cinnamon trees. Cinnamon Leaf essential oil is an upcycled essential oil, meaning it’s a byproduct of cinnamon harvesting. We love any chance we get to reduce waste! Cinnamon Leaf is a warm essential oil that stands on its own, or in woody or gourmand blends.

A potent essential oil, you’ll notice that a little goes a long way. We recommend Cinnamon Leaf essential oil for use in candles, wax melts, and tarts. It’s also approved for use in liquid soap and lotion, but be mindful to stick to the safe usage amounts.

Candle Maker’s Notes:
Cinnamon Leaf performs well in soy wax, rating two leaves out of three on our soy performance scale. We found the scent to be nice, but we had to wick up for peak performance.

Blends Well With: Black Pepper, Clove Leaf, Orange (Sweet)

Lye Water Temperature 106ºF (41.1°C)
Oil Temperature 112ºF (44.4°C)

*Note: We used the maximum allowable IFRA usage rate of 0.85% to test this oil We did not experience any acceleration but there was some ricing and separation initially. Once we confirmed a stable emulsion had formed, the batter started to resemble partially curdled milk. We alternated hand stirring and stick blending until we reached a light trace. We found this kept the soap batter smooth and thin. We poured the soap into the mold and did not find any signs of separation. After 24 hours, we observed the soap discolored to a light yellowish brown color. All but the corners reached the gel phase. The scent was strong but mellow, despite the very low usage rate. After 30 days the soap discolored to a tan shade, and the scent faded slightly but was still strong.

Coffee Sugar Scrub

I made myself a coffee sugar scrub using just 1 mL of this EO and it smells just like Christmas!!! My dry ingredients included espresso grounds, white sugar, and a tiny bit of cinnamon and I mixed this with the sweet orange EO and I think it turned out so great.

1 mL cinnamon to 8 mL sweet orange is a great combination.

Perfect!

This was great in 464 wax at 5%. I’m surprised it was only rated two leaves bc I thought it had a really strong CT and HT. It’s a nice warm cinnamon scent.
